Food Program Information and Sites The food program assists Child Care Providers in serving the minimum meal requirements to their children set by the Department of Agriculture. Providers will receive reimbursement for maintaining a nutritional menu in their Day Care. All Registered and Licensed childcare providers are eligible for reimbursement. When participating in this program providers are not permitted to charge a meal fee to children in their care. A partial reimbursement
is paid for up to 2 meals and 1 snack per child per day, OR, 1 main meal and 2
snacks per child per day. Your
household income or income brackets of your individual children determine your
reimbursement. Higher payments (tier I) are paid to homes in low-income areas and
to low-income providers. Food Programs are not designed
to cover all food but to encourage providers to serve the healthiest food
choices to children in their care. Below
are the reimbursement rates as of November 1, 2005.
In order to participate
in most food programs a provider must… ·
Enroll themselves ·
Complete an orientation session
·
Enroll each of their children Providers are required
keep a day-by-day account of meals and snacks, which they are planning to claim.
A well-balanced menu that includes a source of vitamin C each day and
vitamin A three times a week must be maintained.
In addition each meal/snack has to meet specific criteria based on the
standard food pyramid. The following are some helpful links and phone numbers… http://preschool.topcities.com/menu_planning.htm http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/2489/meals.htm http://www.skyhillkids.com/web/
